Jesse Snyder is a business reporter at the Financial Post in Ottawa. He covers energy and energy policy, trade, technology, finance and other topics. Before joining the Ottawa bureau he was based out of Calgary, where he focused on oil and gas markets, the Canadian oil sands and the politics of energy.

He has been reporting on business for six years. This has mostly involved covering energy and commodities, but also includes anything from the economy to real estate and environmental policy. Before joining the Financial Post he was a writer and editor at Alberta Venture and Alberta Oil magazines in Alberta.

Jesse has reported from various foreign markets, including Bogotá, Colombia, where he covered junior mining companies and commodities markets. He spent a summer in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia—also writing about commodities—which was a strange and sometimes terrifying experience. In 2013 he visited Beijing and Hong Kong to report on Chinese investment in Canada's oil sands for Alberta Oil magazine. He rarely writes in the first person.
